Jerry& Barb--
Mom was a mentor and a friend. We learned from her for many years. You know the story of the green stump which she actually recalled on our last visit in March. We learned to be good parents as young parents. She once clearly told me that we were strict with the little girls and that they would not go to school for long with their bottle and blanky. In other words, leave them alone and let them be little kids!! :0) She often told me I wore skirts that were too long and if I had actually lived through the depression, I would never wear those skirts. :0) On and On we could go and one always knew where you stood with Gert.
We will miss Gert and so will you. When I listened to the Eulogy, I could not help recall ITim 4 : 7 which was a good text for Gert -- I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race; I have kept the faith Perfect for her. She was a great lady and a dear friend in Christ. Thank you for sharing the Eulogy and so aptly describing Mom. She was special to us and certainly special to our God.
We care about you and trust your memories will be a great comfort forever.
In Jesus' Awesome Love,
Gene & Adri Ruisch

May God bless and comfort you--the family of Mrs. Zinn. I remember she was always in good spirit, friendly, and good at caring her patients at Westmar days. In the mid-1960s I received allergy shots from her every week for a year. I am always grateful to her for the enthusiasm in caring and willingness to help. Best Regards, cheul kang ckang@vwc.edu

Jerry and Family,
You have my deepest regards and sympathy. I looked forward to seeing Gertrude's smile every morning that I went to work at Windmill Manor, she was an amazing woman. After I left work there and would run into someone... I would always ask about her. I left to take care of my mom...I just lost her a few days prior. I know what you are going through. I hope your days get brighter one at a time. Take care and you will always be in my prayers.

Jerry - Christy Curry Hoyland was kind enough to send us a copy of the eulogy that you wrote for your mother. It is beautifully done. She was a grand lady and I feel like I knew both your mother and father more than I know you. I think that you are part of that returning Notables Band. Am I correct and will you be back this summer? As the years accumulate, death becomes a natural event but there are still significant adjustments and many details to be taken care of by those left behind. We wish you the strength and patience required for these tasks. Memories will become more and more important. God Bless. Wayne & June Marty

Hi Barb and Jerry... I so badly wanted to come and share with you the love that you had for your mom. Jerry I can tell you that she loved you with all her heart and she waited for you to have your diet coke. She had more then nine lives and a sprite that never gave up. Remember that, she went when she was ready and not a second before. And I'll miss her very Much

Dear Jerry, Barb, and family--My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Mom (Grandma)Zinn was one of those special people who was willing to help everyone. I spent many evenings after concerts having a cup of tea at the kitchen table with her and your Dad. Those were lovely times, and we always felt very welcomed by her warmth and great sense of humor.

We send our sympathy to you at this time of the loss of your mother. We knew her in Le Mars as the Student Health Nurse when we were on the staff at Westmar College. She gave us our flu shots and the shots we needed for our overseas trips. Our prayers and thoughts are with you in these times.
