Obituary of Thomas Joseph Joyce

THE VILLAGES — Thomas Joseph Joyce Jr., 75 died Monday, Nov. 21, 2011. Mr. Joyce was born in Portland, Maine, and moved to The Villages in 2000. He was a retired principal in Cumberland, Maine, a member of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus St. Mark's Parish, president of the Maine and Vermont Club and a member of the Red Sox Nation. Survivors include his wife, Sharon; daughters Patricia Bruce and husband John, Boston, Mass., Mary Satake and husband Eiki, Waltham, Mass., Kathleen Burns and husband Robert, Brunswick, Maine, and Annmarie Joyce, Portland, Maine; stepdaughters Helen Martin, Howell, Mich. and Ruth Haefner, Lavonia, Mich.; stepsons Gerald Hovis Jr., Silver Springs, Md., and Richard Hovis, Antigo, Wis.; sister, Rosemary Gordon, Kennebunk, Maine; Erika Joyce granddaughter Portland, ME; Wilder Burns and Milo Burns grandsons Brunswick, ME; and seven step-grandchildren; preceeded in death; first wife Susan Joyce. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 25, at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church. Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, with a prayer service at 6 p.m. at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, The Villages. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church Building Fund. Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, The Villages, is in charge of arrangements.
