Obituary of Joan Grissinger
M. Joan Grissinger, 94 years of age of Hernando, Florida, passed away on Friday, December 23, 2022 in Ocala, Florida.
Joan was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania in 1928 where she graduated from Altoona High School in 1946 and married the love of her life, Bob Grissinger in the same year. She was proceeded in death by parents Thomas Earl and Nellie Gority, Sisters Geraldine “Dud”, Charlotte “Toddy”, Susan “Sis”, and brother John. She is survived by her husband Robert “Bob”, and children Philip (Vera) Grissinger, Elaine Stout, Eric (Anna) Grissinger, Jeff (Bonnie) Grissinger, Stephen (Robin) Grissinger, and Scott (Janice) Grissinger as well as 11 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren.
Joan and her husband moved from Pennsylvania to St. Petersburg, Florida in 1952.
Joan loved singing, dance, and had a soft spot for pets of all kinds. Most of all, she loved her Lord and savior, Jesus Christ.
She worked in Real Estate and was active in Parent Teacher Associations while her kids where in school. She often sang in her church and was a Sunday School teacher leading a popular women’s bible study. She enjoyed gardening and traveling with her husband.
She was the neighborhood mom, opening her doors to anyone in need, and always making room at the dinner table for unexpected company.
Joan will be most remembered for her strong faith in her Lord Jesus Christ, and her love and compassion for others. Her life and example made a lasting impact on all of those who knew her.
Services for Joan will be held on Friday, December 30, 2022 at 1:00 PM in the Hiers-Baxley Timber Ridge Chapel, 9695 SW 110th Street, Ocala, Florida 34481. PH: 352-873-4114. Interment will follow in the Fero Memorial Gardens, Beverly Hills, Florida.
