Obituary of Jerry L. Freeman

Jerry L. Freeman (nee Hartley), of The Villages, FL, passed away at age 79 on March 3rd, 2022. Jerry was the beloved wife of William (“Bill”) Freeman, devoted mother of Lynette (James) Barresi and Todd Freeman, and loving grandmother of Nicole and Michael Barresi.

Jerry was born in Alliance, Ohio on May 27, 1942, to the late Milton and Geraldine (Hutton) Hartley. She graduated from Lapeer High School, attended Baker College, and held a variety of clerical and administrative positions.

In 1963, Jerry married her soulmate, Bill Freeman, with whom she spent her adult life in Davison, MI and The Villages, FL. Jerry was an avid reader, talented home and garden decorator, and shopping enthusiast. She found joy boating in Northern Michigan, attending football games at the Big House, golfing with her friends in The Villages, and spending quality time with her grandchildren. Throughout her life, Jerry could often be found enjoying the warm sunshine and cool breeze while on a convertible ride with Bill.

Jerry is survived by her two children Lynette (James) Barresi and Todd Freeman, grandchildren Nicole and Michael Barresi, and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill and her parents Milton and Geraldine.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held in The Villages, Florida at Hiers-Baxley Life Events Center on Saturday, April 2nd, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. Reception will follow the memorial service from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Rev. Maria Clemente will be officiating.
