Obituary of Carol Sue Kiser
Carol Sue Kiser, 76, passed away unexpectedly on February 14, 2022, at West Marion Community Hospital, in Ocala, FL. She was born on July 29, 1945, to Thomas Howard Maple and Lelia Ann (Masterson) Given.
Carol grew up in Charleston, WV. She graduated Stonewall Jackson High School in Charleston, WV in 1963. She attended Marshall University in Huntington, WV. She worked as a United States Senate staffer for the Honorable Senator Robert C. Byrd of West Virginia in Washington, D.C., for over 20 years where she earned several distinctive service awards and retired in 2003.
Carol married William “Bill” Othel Kiser II in 1967 in Charleston, WV. They were happily married for 54 years. She served as a military wife of an Air Force officer for over 20 years; traveling and living throughout the United States and Germany. Carol Kiser was an active member of Hedges Chapel in Hedgesville, WV and she also volunteered with several charitable organizations in her community. She was a dedicated member of several on-line communities where she touched numerous lives around the world with her kindness, encouragement, and support. She enjoyed crafting exquisite items made of beadwork and needlework. She loved music, dancing, traveling, playing mah-jongg, and spending time with family. Carol touched so many in life, and her passion for faith, family, and memories was her gift to her family and all that had the good fortune to know her.
Carol is survived by her spouse, Bill Kiser, of Hedgesville, WV; her son Kevin Allyn Kiser of Arlington, VA; her daughter, Kristina Ann Sabol, of Centreville, VA; her sisters Karen Francis Stover and Teresa Ann Townsend of Charleston, WV; her brothers Larry Walter Given and Leslie Wilson Given of Charleston, WV; her grandchildren Jacob Ryan Sabol, Carey Renee Sabol, and Thomas James Kiser; and her nieces Amber Adiere Stover and Lauren Ashley Townsend.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents Thomas H. Maple and Lelia A. Given.
A Memorial Service will be held at Hedges Chapel ,668 Mountain Lake Road, Hedgesville, WV 25427 on March 5, 2022 at 11:00am with a Celebration of Life Reception to follow 12:00 - 3:00 PM , and she will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery with a graveside ceremony on Friday, March 25 at 2:00pm
