Karl & I grew up somewhat together in East Hanover in the 1950's and 1960's, served our country in Korea in the same unit a couple years apart later in life & reunited shortly after as life members of the Sparta Veterans of Foreign Wars...... We shared many laughs, good times, and an occasional beer thru the VFW as members of its Color Guard and at its social functions. It was at one of these dinner functions where I met his mother and father where we enjoyed recalling past days spent when our " hometown" was truly that. Karl was a good friend who I missed the company of as soon as he and Dorothy moved to Florida. His passing saddens me, but I continue remembering our " good old days". Rest in Peace Karl

Proud to call you my brother. Though we've been miles apart for some time and didn't see each other or talk on the phone much, for those times that we did, it was like we just saw each other yesterday. There was a mutual, unspoken regard that we had for each other, that we could trash talk about anything and everything, disagree, but never argue, and agree without having to prove a point. I guess that's what brothers do, I will miss that.
You touched the hearts of many and will be missed dearly by those. Dorothy, our sisters Diane, Denise and Connie, Candy and I, love you dearly and will miss you terribly.
Rest in peace bro'

We will always think of the many homemade treats we would find on Norms chair in the garage…the blueberry pie, shortbread cookies and best of all the sticky buns!
We miss your smiling face,
Carol and Norm Poulin

Dorothy and family, I am sorry to hear of Karl's passing. The ISF Team selfishly had Karl in Pittsfield MA from 2005 - 2008 - his contributions and drive with the team to make this facility happen is beyond what words can say. The attached photo was the ISF team thanking him for his 24 years of service to the Trident FBM Program and wishing him well in retirement (Sept 2008)

I don't have a lot of memories of my Uncle but I do have some. It was during the time frame when I was living in Sparta NJ. I can remember going sailing with him on his catamaran on Lake Mohawk. Looking back on it I can remember the boat being larger than life and being a little intimidated by it. Keep in mind I was 12 or 13. Karl just took control and got it sailing. I don't remember how fast we were going but it almost felt like we were flying.
There was another time that I remember when him and Aunt Dot got me a job at the Sparta Elks. I was serving people breakfast every Sunday. It was great experience for a young kid like me. Everyone there was nice and kind the entire time I was working. I don't remember any issues or problems from the patrons. I do remember Karl asking me to shovel out the walk way to the building during the winter one time. So I proceeded to do so just big enough for me to walk thru. I went to him and told him I was done and when he went outside to check he saw this tiny path that was cut out of the snow. Needless to say he made me do it again so that everyone could use it. Looking back on that I can really appreciate it. Being a young and dumb kid it was great to have someone to provide guidance in my life.

Karl and Dot were dear friends from Sparta. We loved his wonderful laugh. Because of this crazy virus, our trips to Florida have stopped for the past three winters. Our plans for an upcoming October visit would have definitely meant a stop to see Dot and Karl.
Eileen and I cherished the week Karl and Dot spent with us before packing for Florida.
Our thoughts and prayers will always be for Dot and Karl's family.
