Joe was blessed to have been loved by three women: Barbara (Bobbi) Adams, with whom he had three children, Greg, Dee (Dan) Kindl, and Gretchen (Greg) Hansen; Antoinette (Toni) Wagner, with whom he had two daughters, Meredith (Mark) Rosland, Heather Siegel-Hickman; and Mary Smith, who brought her two sons, Jeffrey and Michael, to this wonderful family collective.

In retirement, Joe was a member of the Coast Guard Club in The Villages.  He served as its president and treasurer over the years.

He is survived by his wife Mary; his children; one sister, Mary Ann Madewell of Chicago; and twelve grandchildren: Josh, Jeremy, Evan and Ethan Kindl, Charlie Hickman, Ian and Sydney Rosland, and Gillian, Joshua, Keira, Declan and Johanna Smith, as well as several nieces and nephews and many others who loved him.  Besides his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his first two wives, both of whom passed from breast cancer.
