Obituary of Thomas George Christoph
Thomas George Christoph, 92, of The Villages, Florida passed away on Monday, April 27, 2020. Tom was born November 30, 1927 in Neenah, Wisconsin to the late George F. and Louise Lenz Christoph. He married LaVerne M. McKay (Bunny) on December 30, 1950.
He was a proud WWII veteran of The United States Army and after his discharge, earned a BA in Economics from Lawrence University (1951) and embarked on a long career in business systems management with Marathon Paper, American Can and retiring as Vice President with Bigelow-Sanford Carpet Company. Following his business career, Tom earned his Master's degree in Management and taught business classes for several years at Clemson University.
Faith was important to Tom and his wife Bunny and they were very active in churches wherever they lived. Tom and Bunny took special pleasure in helping to organize and start new congregations in several areas of the country. Tom continued to teach Bible study classes until his passing.
He is survived by his children, Richard T. Christoph (Orinda), Linda Christoph (Vince); four grandchildren, Valerie Bertel, James Bertel, George Christoph (Cindy), Erica Daniels (Spencer); and eight great grandchildren, Ashton, Damien, Caleb, Wyatt, Abigail, Serena, Isabel, and Luke as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years LaVerne.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Covenant United Methodist Church, 3470 Woodridge Dr., The Villages, Florida 32162.
Interment at Florida National Cemetery will be private. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at 2 pm, located at Hiers-Baxley Funeral and Cremation Life Event Center, 3975 Wedgewood Lane, The Villages, FL 32162.
