Obituary of Marjorie James Parr

Marjorie James Parr, age 91, of The Villages, Florida passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2019. She was born 1/21/1928 in Bradenton, Florida to Elizabeth Inez Johnson James and Arthur Theophilus James. She was a graduate of Bradenton High School and studied at Draughon’s Business College in Atlanta, Ga. Married to Jack Dee Parr, Jr. of Covington, Georgia and Washington, DC they had three children which she is survived by- Deborah Smith, Cynthia Rabley and James Parr all of The Villages, Fl. She has 9 Grandchildren and 9 Great-grandchildren. Margie is also survived by her Sister Doris M. Thurston of Sarasota, Fl and is predeceased by her sister Kathryn J. Tillett and brother Arthur “Buddy” James.

 

In 1962 the Parr family moved to Spartanburg, SC. After the passing of her husband Jack D. Parr, Jr. in 1994, Margie moved to The Villages, Fl in 1998. Over the years Margie was active in the Springfield, VA Public Library formation, the American Cancer Society, the Spartanburg Regional Hospital and the Baptist Church. A very independent and kind person, her smile always preceded conversation to communicate the love in her heart for the people she met.

 

While being “Nana” to all she never forgot a birthday or anniversary with a card, a call or a handwritten note. Later in life in The Villages she found companionship, trust and love once again with Mr. Ted Schroepfer until medical issues required Ted to move back to Minnesota in 2015.

 

Margie would want to give thanks to God and all her many friends that shared life, playing cards, dinners, stories and laughs with her during her blessed life here on earth.

 

Final interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Spartanburg, SC. In lieu of flowers please make donations to The Villages Regional Hospital Auxiliary Foundation or The Villages Charter School.
