Bonnie Andrews

Obituary of Bonnie Strehle Andrews

THE VILLAGES – Bonnie Strehle Andrews, 73, passed away suddenly but peacefully on May 2, 2018 as a result of Alzheimer’s disease.

She is survived by Daniel J. Andrews, her husband of nearly 52 years; her children, Sarah Andrews Cook and son-in-law, Sean Cook of Athens, GA, Megan Andrews Blackshear and son-in-law, Peter Blackshear of Ann Arbor, MI and by her grandchildren, Brendan and Susie Cook.

Bonnie was born in PA but lived most of her adult life in MI after graduating from college.  She moved to The Villages in 2004 and was an avid golfer for many years until the progression of the disease prevented her from doing so any longer.  She was also a creative artist with stained glass, making her own creations of 3-dimensional objects such as houses and other structures.

Bonnie was not only a wonderful wife and best friend to Mr. Andrews, but also an incredible mother and grandmother.  She will be sorely missed by all those whose lives she touched.

For more than three years prior to her death, Bonnie was a resident at Ocala Health & Rehab Skilled Nursing Center where the entire staff treated her with love and dignity in providing the care and attention she needed and so richly deserved during those years.

One song that her husband sang to her included the words: “I still want you the way I wanted you then; If I could do it all over, I’d do it all over again!” and each card given to Bonnie by her husband bore the inscription: “Je T’aime plus qu’hier moins que demain.”

While there is no memorial service planned at this time, the family suggests that donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Family Organization 461 Mariner Blvd., Spring Hill, FL 34609 (http://wwwalzheimersfamily.org).

Arrangements entrusted to Hiers-Baxley Funeral & Cremation Life Event Center, The Villages.
