Obituary of Richard Butterfield

Richard S. Butterfield, age 81, of Ocala, FL passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2008 at the VA Medical Center in Gainesville, FL. He was born in Altoona, PA on March 2, 1927. Mr. Butterfield served 34 years in the US Navy and retired as a Senior Chief. He was a veteran of WWII, The Korean Conflict and The Vietnam War. He moved to Florida from Erie, PA in 1954. He was a 53 year member of the Masons, York Rite Bodies, the Eastern Star and Grotto. He was a life member of the VFW. Mr. Butterfield was an avid stamp collector. His favorite music was Big Band, Classic and Light Opera. He was most proud of serving his country thru military service. Mr. Butterfield is survived by a daughter Roberta M. Cross of Paisley, FL; daughter Olwen Butterfield of Baltimore, MD; son Marc R. Brenneman of Mansfield, OH and 3 grandchildren. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 5th from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 E. Silver Springs Blvd, Ocala, FL 34470. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 6th, 10:00 am at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will take place on Thursday, November 6th, 12:30 pm at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
