Obituary of Richard Oxford
OXFORD, RICHARD NORMAN-49 "RICK THE BARBER" Ocala-Richard Norman Oxford, 49, passed away
on November 20, 2008 at Ocala Regional Medical Center. Mr. Oxford was a member of First Baptist
Church of Silver Springs. He was a member of Ocala Civic Theater, Parkview Players, FHSAA (MFOA)
for 21 years and a member, basketball and football referee. Mr. Oxford was a major Florida Gator
Fan and spent most of his life in Ocala. He was a member of the Dale Carnegie Leadership
Training, March of Dimes, Silver Springs Moose # 1199, Silver Springs Lions Club, Good Ole Boys,
Ocala Jaycees, Junior Achievement, and very civic minded. Rick was a CFCC graduate Alumni. Mr.
Oxford is survived by sons Edward Oxford, Matthew Boyd, and Kenneth Boyd of Ocala; Brothers James
and George Oxford, Ocala; an aunt, Merry Lou Oxford, Huntsville, AL; and grandchildren, Patrick,
Cameron, Jonathon, Briana, and Gracie Boyd, Ariel and Charlotte Oxford. He was preceded in death
by son Patrick Richard Oxford and nephew, Brandon Brooks Oxford. 'Rick the Barber" was
owner/operator of Rick's Barber Shop and most important in his life was family and many, many
friends. Services will be held Monday, November 24, 2008 at 1:00 PM at Hiers-Baxley Funeral
Services-Ocala Chapel, 910 E Silver Springs Blvd. with Rev. Wayne Hunter officiating. Interment
will follow at High Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 5-7 PM.
