Obituary of Cloyce Lidke
THE VILLAGES-Cloyce Lidke, 91, died at his Florida home Thursday, January 8, 2009. He
has been spending the winter months in The Villages since 2005. Cloyce was born 6/12/17 in
Ypsitlanti, MI to Herman & Ruby Lidke. The family moved to Scottville by train when he
was two years old. He grew up spending most of his life living North of Scottville at Kings
Comers. As a young man he and his father started Lidkes General Store/Gas Station on the corner
of US31 and Fountain Road. Almost Seventy-one (71) years ago, February 5, 1938 he married Mildred
Ager of Scottville. The business expanded over the years serving the community as a feed mill and
hardware. For many years he owned and operated several semi-trucks, trucking throughout the mid
west. When their son Carl joined the business Lumber and building materials were added and Lidkes
Cashway/Lidkes Home Center was formed. The business was sold in 1980 and he retired. Since that
time he has actively enjoyed summers in Michigan and winters in central Florida. He was preceded
in death by his parents, brother Allen of Muskegon, Grand-daughter Holly and son Carl of
Longwood, FL. He is survived by his wife Mildred of Ludington and The Villages, FL,
Daughter-in-law Joyce and her husband John McClintock of The Villages, FL, two grand-daughters,
Carin (Albert) Reyes of Apopka, FL and Nora (Mike) Wright of Sanford, FL and three great
¬grand-children, Victoria & Nicholas Reyes and Trevor Wright. He is also survived by his
brother Ford Lidke of Scottville, his sister Beulah Morton of Saline, MI, his brother-in-law and
sister-in-law Carlton and Louise Ager of Muskegon, MI, sister-in-law Rosalie Ager of Rochester
Hills, MI, and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. A memorial service will
be held at a later date in his home community in Michigan. The family will receive friends
beginning at 10:00am to 11:00 AM Sunday morning before proceeding to Highland Memory Gardens
Cemetery m Apopka for a graveside service at 2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions
may be made to The American Cancer Society or Our Savior Lutheran Church of Scottville, MI.
