Obituary of Robert Gonzales

GONZALES, Robert J. Mr. Robert J. "Bob" Gonzales, 69, of Ocala, died Saturday, January 10, 2009, at Estelle's Hospice House. A native of Glendale, WV, he moved to this area 38 years ago, coming here from Titusville, Fl. He was the former owner operator of Signature Insurance of Ocala. Mr. Gonzales was very involved in his community in many ways, including president of the Marion County Insurance Association for many years; Ocala Jaycees; Munroe Regional Medical Center Foundation; former board member of Hospice of Marion County, and a member of Christ the King Anglican Church. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman, and belonged to the Safari Club International and the NRA. One of his hobbies was shooting sporting clays. He was instrumental in starting two sporting clays shooting tournaments that in the last 10 years have raised over one million dollars for the Boy Scouts of North Florida. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Eva J. Gonzales, daughter Janet L. Gonzales of Atlanta, and son Jon Gonzales of Ocala. Memorial services will be held at 2 PM Friday, January 16, 2009, at Christ the King Anglican Church, 3801 N. US Highway 441, Ocala, with Rev. Donald J. Curran, Jr. officiating.
