Dear Aunt Mary, Jean, Paul, Mary Pat, Craig & Neil:
I am extremely saddened to hear of the passing of Uncle Maynard. I have very fond memories of him from my earliest ages and will always remember him as a warm hearted and generous man. He always had a smile for me and over the years I enjoyed getting to know and talk to him even more as I grew older. He was a good man and I am lucky to have called him Uncle. Bless you all.

Maynard was a good man and a friend I was always happy to talk to. He sometimes came in the office to research Real Estate, or I would give him a call when looking for wisdom on a complex local political matter. He always made you feel comfortable to be in a conversation with him even if you were in disagreement. His point of view and advice, if he gave it, were tempered with wisdom, perceptive and worth hearing. I will miss him. My heart goes out to the family. I got to know his wife Mary over the years, as well, and am very impressed with her, and especially knew Mary Pat at one time, when we both attended Iowa State University at the same time, found her to be equally impressive and wish her the very best. I would like to offer my condolences to you on Sheriff Schneider's passing. As a retired Iowa State Trooper, I can remember the night in Iowa City when he opened his trunk and gave about 30 troopers gas masks to use during the student demonstrations in the late 1960's; the State Patrol did not have any masks. He was a good man and will be missed.

I was proud to have known Sheriff Schneider. After I was dischared from the ARMY in 1967 I went to Maynard regarding a job with the Johnson Coounty Sheriffs Department but no openings at that time. I was proably too young at that time 22 yrs. old]anyway. However this man was real nice to me and encouraged me to come back. I never did. Years later in 1978 I started my own Security business here in Iowa City and have had the pleasure of visiting with Maynard on numerous occasions at the Deli-Mart on Benton Street. I have always respected him and it was always nice visiting with him
On behalf of my wife Lynette and I we want to express to all of his family our heartfelt condolances to the loss of this friend to us and your love one.
He will be deeply missed.
