Obituary of Dominic Raffa
RAFFA, Dominic, Dr. Dr. Dominic Raffa, 92, of Ocala, died Monday, February 16, 2009, at
Hampton Manor in Ocala. A native of Brooklyn, NY, Dr. Raffa moved to Ocala from Ft. Lauderdale 12
years ago. He received his undergraduate degree from Grand Park College in Parkville, MO, then
received his medical training at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, Kirksville, MO.
After practicing general medicine for several years, he returned to school and did his ophthalmic
residency, becoming an opthamologist. He served as Chief of Staff at Doctors General Hospital in
Ft. Lauderdale, and in 1957 was appointed to the State Medical Examiners Board by Governor Leroy
Collins. Over the years he was active in the Elks, Rotary, Shrine, and was a 32 degree Mason. Dr.
Raffa was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Ocala. Survivors include his wife Susan S.
Raffa, daughters Beth Futch (Bill), Ocala, Katie Tillman, SC, son Todd Tillman, NC, brother
Anthony Raffa (Winn), Tampa, granddaughter Alex Futch, Atlanta, grandson Will Futch, Ocala, and
numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
