Obituary of Clara Mae Stalvey
Clara Mae Holder Stalvey Mrs. Clara Mae Holder Stalvey, 96, of Trenton passed away on
Monday, February 23, 2009, at her residence. Mrs. Stalvey was born on May 8, 1912 in Newbery,
Florida to Barry and Nona Holder. After she married Dewey J. Stalvey on April 7, 1928, the couple
resided in Gilchrist County where they spent nearly 70 years in devotion to one another until his
death on February 27, 1998. Together they raised four children, Willie Mae Jones of Trenton, Ruby
Lee Barron (deceased) of Trenton, Dewey Cleveland Stalvey Sr. of High Springs and Lois Eunice
Blevins of Pelham, Alabama. She was also blessed with 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren
and 16 great-great-grandchildren who all gave her much joy. She is also survived by her sister
Vera H. Smith of Plant City, Florida and preceded in death by five brothers, Willis Holder,
Dennis Holder, Fred Holder, Aubrey Holder and J. C. Holder. Mrs. Stalvey was a member of the
North East Church of Christ in High Springs, Florida. She spent her life being a faithful servant
of God and teaching others to do the same. She left a message to her family. She wrote "Do be
peaceable and try to get ready for heaven, I want to meet all of you there. Love, Mother " The
viewing will be held Friday, February 27th, 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the chapel at Hiers-Baxley Funeral
Home in Chiefland, Florida. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 28th at the Iris
Robert's Memorial Auditorium at Bell High School in Bell, Florida. There will be a viewing at
9:30 am and services will begin at 10:00. Arrangements are under care of Heirs-Baxley Funeral
Services in Chiefland, Florida.
