Obituary of Philip Bevelacqua

Philip Bevelacqua, 88 of Ocala, Fl. passed away on February 24, 2009 at West Marion Community Hospital in Ocala, FL. Mr. Bevelacqua was a native of Long Island, New York. He was a manufacturing engineer at Grumman Aerospace, where he retired after 23 years of service. Philip and Gladys moved to Ocala from Commack, NY in 1994. He was an Army veteran serving in WWII. Mr. Bevelacqua was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church where he was in the Knights of Columbus. He also was in the American Legion for 21 years, Grumman Retiree Club, Lions Club, New York-New Jersey Club, and Scoutmaster for 22 years where he received the Silver Beaver Award. He is survived by his wife of 23 years Gladys; his daughters, Sandra Bevelacqua, New York, NY, Debra Petushin, Miami, FL, and Janet Hooper, Falls Church, VA; step-son, Anthony Zaikas, Huntington, LI, NY. He was pre-deceased by a son Philip Bevelacqua. Funeral Mass for Mr. Bevelacqua will be Monday, March 2, 2009 at 8:30 AM at Queen Of Peace Catholic Church SR 200 in Ocala, Fl. with Father Patrick J. O'Doherty officiating. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, Sunday, March 1 with prayers at 3:00 PM at Hiers-Baxley - TimberRidge Chapel, 9695 S.W. 110th Street, Ocala. Interment will be at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fl. with Military Honors provided by Angela Santos Post #4781 of Ocala.
