Obituary of Irving Tannenbaum
Irving Tannenbaum Ocala - Irving Tannenbaum passed away on Monday, March 9, 2009 at the
Malcom Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville. Born in New York City, NY, Mr. Tannenbaum moved
to Ocala in 1986. During his life he worked as a compliance agent for the United States Postal
Service. He served in the United States Army during World War II, was the recipient of the Purple
Heart and Bronze Star, and was honored by the French Government for the Invasion of Normandy. Mr.
Tannenbaum volunteered with the United Way and the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program,
helped with the Ocala Civic Theater, and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, American
Legion, and the Silver Springs Shores & Ocala Democratic Committee. He also enjoyed horse
racing and was a hockey and baseball fan. He is survived by his wife Ruth Tannenbaum; daughters
Tina Greenburg (Kenny) and Sheila Tannenbaum; son Dr. Robert Tannenbaum (Stephanie);
grandchildren Lindsay, Shelby, Richard, Victoria, Harrison; and great-grandchildren Zachary,
Arielle, and Marcus Benjamin. A graveside service will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday, March 11,
2009 at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell. A memorial service will be
held at a later date at Temple B'Nai Darom.
