Obituary of Barbara Wheeler

Barbara Wheeler, 69, of the Villages,Florida, passed away Easter Sunday, April, 12, 2009 at The Leesburg Regional Medical Center. She was born in Stamford, CT, June 21,1939 to the late Mr. and Mrs. John and Abigail Moehring. She graduated from Stamford High School and attended college in Fairfield County. A major part of her professioanl career was spent at Stamford's HQ Corporation where she served as office manager. Mrs. Wheeler is survived by her husband, Stephen Wheeler, sister-in-law, Bethany Corey, Pawtucket, RI., step daughters, Julie Silvia, Fall River, MA, Robin Wheeler, Cranston, RI, and many friends whose life she touched along the way. She and her husband moved to the Villages in 2000 from Charlestown, RI. Barbara's passion was dedicated to the lives of children in need. She will be remembered for her years of strong advocacy in Sumter County's Guardian ad Litem program. It was her tireless efforts in that program that former Florida Governor Jeb Bush reconized her as Florida's Guardian ad Litem Volunteer of the year in 2005. Mrs. Wheeler was a member and former usher of Hope Lutheran Church, The Villages.
