Obituary of Harry Card
Harry B. Card, age 75, of Silver Springs, FL passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2009. He
was born in Haverhill, MA on July 27, 1933, son of the late Walton and Blanche Card. In 1968, he
married Sandra Boucher and together they raised three children. Harry worked as a shoe pattern
maker for the George McCarthy, Jr. Pattern Company and also as a machinist at the Merrimack
Valley Tool Company, both in Haverhill. In 1990, Harry moved from Kingston, NH to Florida where
he worked at Silver Springs Attraction in the maintenance shop doing boat repair. His hobbies
included building steam powered leisure boats, model train layouts, and model boats. Harry
enjoyed traveling to various steam boating events and giving rides to others on his steamboats.
He was also an avid card player and a US Army veteran. Harry is survived by daughter Cheri
Sylvester; daughter Dawn Miller and her husband Rodney; daughter Laurel Mathis and her husband
Charles; sister Shirley Ethier and her husband Charles; and three grandchildren Samantha, Rodney,
Jr. and Amanda Miller. He was pre-deceased by an infant son James Andrew Card. A visitation will
be held on Sunday, April 19, 2009, 2:00 - 3:00 PM at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 E. Silver
Springs Blvd, Ocala, FL. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 19, 2009, 3:00 PM at the
funeral home. Interment will take place at Elmwood Cemetery in Bradford, MA. In lieu of flowers,
donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 1040 Woodcock Road, Suite 119, Orlando,
FL 32803.
