Obituary of David Kolonia
David Keith Kolonia, age 81, of Ocala, FL passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2009. Mr.
Kolonia was born in Worcester, MA on September 1, 1927. He moved to Gainesville, FL from
Connecticut in 1970 and in 1979 opened a new Merrill Lynch office in Ocala. He retired from
Merrill Lynch in 1992. He was a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society (formerly SBEBSQSA) for
48 years. During that time his quartet, the Tenth Precinct, was the 1983 Sunshine District
Champion. They also competed at the International level. David was the Sunshine District
President in 1992-94 and an International Board Member. He is survived by his wife of 54 years,
Frances, his son Gregory of Ocala, son Douglas and his wife Kim of South Carolina, daughter
Pamela Kolonia-James, and her husband R. Cam James of Rota, Spain, and their two children Cameron
and Jessica James, also of Rota. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Marjorie G. MacFarlane
of Urbana, IL. A visitation will be held at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 E. Silver Springs
Blvd, Ocala on Friday, April 24, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. A graveside funeral service will
be held at Highland Memorial Park, 1515 NE 3rd St, Ocala on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 11:00 AM.
