Obituary of Gilbert A. Wheeler
Mr. Gilbert A. Wheeler, 74, of The Villges, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2009 at the
Villages Regional Hospital. He moved to the Villages from New Freedom, PA in 2000 and loved
swimming, golf, reading about the Civil War, and was a history buff. Mr. Wheeler was a member of
St. Mark Catholic Church, where he served as Eucharisitic Minister and a reader. He was a Grand
Knight of St. Paul the First Hermit, 14222 Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus
#0944, Hanover, PA. He was a member of Villges Aquatic Swim Team, and the American Legion Post.
He retired from McCormick and Company after 25 years as a coporate quality assurance and
developed the 1st Burger King chicken patty, an co- inventor of the straight wall onion rings.
Mr. Wheeler is survived by his wife of 53 years, Roberta, The Villages, a son, Edward Wheeler,
Bedford, VA.,3 daughters, Roberta Ann(Richard) Ruben, Reisterstown, MD, Patricia Ann Ramsey, Key
Largo, FL, Frances (Jackie) McMillan, Blue Ridge, VA., 5 grandchildren, Daphne Collins, Trey
McMillan, Sara McMillan, Michael Ramsey, and Troy Ramsey, and 1 great grandchild, Logan
Collins.
