Obituary of Melvin Williams
Melvin Houston Williams Ocala - Williams, Melvin Houston, age 82, of Ocala, passed away
at Life Care Center on Saturday May 2, 2009. He was a graduate of Ocala High School in 1945 and
attended Stetson University and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Melvin retired
from Swift & Company in 1980. He was a life member of the Ocala Elks Lodge #286 and a
World War II Veteran with the U.S. Army where he served in military government. Melvin is
survived by his wife of 61 years, Carolyn Williams; 3 children, daughter, Martha Pallant and
husband Dr. Bennett Pallant of Mahopac, NY; son, Greg Williams and wife Brenda Williams of
Crawfordville, FL; son, Gaylon Williams and wife Patty Williams of Ocala; 6 grandchildren, Scott,
David, Amy, Jennifer, Chip and Bo; 1 great-grandson, Sebastian, his sister, Marjorie Driggers and
husband Dan Driggers of Ocala; 2 nephews, Dan Driggers, Jr. and wife Beverly of Valrico, FL; and
Ray Driggers of Ocala. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to
the Florida Methodist Children's Home at 51 Main Street, Enterprise, Fl 32725 or Interfaith
Emergency Services at 450 N.W. 2nd Street, Ocala, Fl 34475. Service will be held at First United
Methodist Church with the Reverend Sue Haupert-Johnson and the Reverend Doctor John Few on
Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at 11:00am. Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, Ocala, FL.
