Obituary of Charles A. Medlong
Summerfield - Charles A. Medlong, 91, died at Peninsula Care and Rehab Center in Tarpon
Springs on May 3, 2009. He was born in Oswego, NY and moved to the Summerfield area from
Liverpool, NY in 1980. He was of Methodist faith and was a Mason, Lodge #802 in East Syracuse,
NY. Mr. Medlong was a 65+ year member of the United Transportation Union, and retired from active
service after 44 years with New York Central Railroad and Conrail working out of East Syracuse
his entire career. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He is survived by his sons,
Charles Paul (Karen) Medlong, Anaheim, CA, Richard W. (Judy) Medlong, Brandon, FL, Kim (DJ)
Medlong, Sanford, FL; daughters, Judith A. Olander, Tarpon Springs, Joyce E. (Robert) Menikheim,
Manlius, NY; brother, Frederick Medlong, Placerville, CA; sister, Carrie Burt, Albuquerque, NM;
14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Medlong is
predeceased by his wife, Anna L. Medlong.
