Obituary of Richard Fields
Fields Sr., Richard Wayne, 67 Richard Wayne Fields, Sr. 67, of OTOW, Ocala, FL joined
our Lord in Heaven on Wednesday, June 3, 2009. Dick passed away peacefully at home with his wife
Barbara and sister Kathy by his side. Dick was born in Miami, FL and graduated from Ft. Meade
High School in central Florida where he played football and baseball in 1958. After a brief
career as a minor league pitcher with the Boston Red Sox, Dick enlisted into the United States
Air Force. He served his country for 10 years which included a tour of duty in Vietnam. After his
honorable discharge, Dick and his family moved to Miami, FL. In 1973 Dick moved his family to
Port Orchard and then Kent, Washington. It was during this time that Dick worked for United
Airlines. In 1979, they moved again to Snellville, GA when Dick began working for Raytheon Data
Systems where he later retired as a regional logistics manager. In late 1990 Dick took a hobby
and turned it into a business when he opened On Deck Sports Cards & Collectibles. In
2005, Dick and Barb decided it was time to retire and moved to Ocala, FL. Dick loved to play golf
and played just about every day. Dick was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, Mr.
Fields is survived by his wife Barbara of 46 years; two sons Richard, Jr. and wife Brenda Dale of
Savannah, GA, and Duane of Warner Robins, GA; adopted daughter Jan Peterson and husband Bob of
Jonesborough, TN. And their 3 children, Caelan, Emily and Alyssa, his sister Kathy Doss and
husband Tom of Lakeland, FL and brother, Alan Fields and wife Shairl of Ft. Meade, FL. Dick is
also survived by his four grandchildren, Sean Michael; Lindsay Diane; Jessica Gabriel; and Emily
Anne; 4 nieces; 3 nephews; and 3 great nieces and 3 great nephews; along with his loving dogs Gus
and Molly. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Jim and Betty Fields and his brothers, Larry and
Butch.
