Obituary of Gerhardt Dammel

Gary Dammel died June 28, 2009 at Palm Garden in Ocala, FL. He was born Oct. 18, 1920 in rural Stutsman County, ND. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in April 1942. He served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater as a bomber pilot in the Fifth Air Force. He was awarded a Bronze Star for service in the Phillipines Liberation. He was discharged in Nov. 1945. In 1950 he graduated from Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, IN. He married Arlene Steeve of Clarinda, IA in 1950. He served as a school administrator in ND and MN for thirty years. He was preceded in death by five sisters, one brother and a daughter, Paula. He is survived by his wife, Arlene, two sons, Andrew and wife Maureen of Bloomington, MN and Peter Dammel of Audubon, IA and Robyn Dammel of Ankeny, IA, two grandchildren, Joseph and Jacklyn Dammel of Bloomington, MN and a brother, Reuben of Medina, ND plus numerous nieces and nephews.
