Obituary of Orville Allen
Allen, Orville Duane, 77 Years Old Mr. Orville Duane Allen died peacefully at his home
Tuesday, June 30, 2009 in Ocala, FL. Duane was born in Vancouver, Washington on June 7, 1932. He
was the second of two sons born to Louis Sumner Allen and Bessie Lucille Hardy. After graduating
from Vancouver High School in 1950, Duane attended Clark College, where he graduated in 1952. He
then enrolled in the University of Oregon which he attended until he entered the Army in 1954.
Following his honorable discharge from the Army as a Corporal in September, 1956, he finished his
formal education and received a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University
of Oregon in 1958. During his high school and college years, he participated in many sports,
including football, basketball and baseball. He received the Outstanding Athlete award at Clark
College and played baseball for the University of Oregon in several positions. Duane spent the
majority of his career from 1956-1980 with Swift & Co. as an Internal Auditor and
Comptroller. He worked in Portland, OR, Chicago, IL and settled in Ocala, FL in 1966. After
moving to Ocala, he became an avid golfer and passed his love of the game on to his sons. He also
loved to fish with his family on local lakes and rivers in the boat that he built in his garage.
Duane was a member of Christ The King Anglican Church. He is survived by Ann Margaret Newman, his
wife of 52 years; sons Gregory Scott Allen(Laura) and Jeffery Duane Allen(Linda) and two
wonderful granddaughters, Victoria Elizabeth Allen and Christina Ann Allen. Memorial services
will be held at 2 PM Monday, July 6, 2009, at Christ the King Anglican Church, 3801 N. US Hwy
441, Ocala, with Rev. Donald J. Curran, Jr. officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions may be made to Christ The King Anglican Church Building Fund, 3850 W. Anthony Rd.,
Ocala, FL 34475.
