Obituary of James Blaylock
BLAYLOCK, JAMES EDWARD Ft. McCoy - James Edward Blaylock, 76, passed away on July 1,
2009 at his residence. He was born in Bolivar County, MS and moved here from Altamonte Springs in
1984. He was a retired Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy serving in the Korean and Vietnam
Wars. He was a POW in Vietnam. He was a Quality Control Engineer for NASA working with Grumman
Aerospace at the Kennedy Space Center. He was a member of the VFW at Salt Springs, Friends of the
Ft. McCoy Public Library and was a Marion County Master Gardener Emeritus. He enjoyed gardening,
pets, Koi ponds and aquarium, reading, traveling, hiking, camping and fishing. He is survived by
his wife Elaine of Ft. McCoy, his daughters, Janet Bourne of Coles Point, VA, Jacqueline Kuckuck
of Lancing, TN and June Darling of Paisley, FL, his sons, Jon Blaylock of Melbourne, his sister,
Martha Hughes of Geneva, FL, his brothers, Mark of Fredericksburg, VA and Charles of Grenada, MS,
his step-daughters, Linda Josephs of Marlton, NJ and Carol Tingley of Ocoee, FL his 13
grandchildren and many great grandchildren. A mass will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at
10:00 AM at Christ the King Catholic Church in Citra with Father Joe Maniangat officiating.
Inurnment will be at Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations
to Hospice of Marion County. Arrangements by Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 E. Silver Springs
Blvd., Ocala.
