Obituary of James Burke

BURKE, James Edwin James Edwin Burke, died July 1, 2009, in Ocala, FL. Born June 18, 1923 in Lafayette, IN to Vernard and Grace (Baxter) Burke. He retired from the US Post office after 34 years of service. He delivered the same route for 23 ½ years. He was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Lafayette and was an associate member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Ocala. He married an English girl in 1945 and they were divorced in 1955. He married Marian L. Elming in 1958. She died May 15, 2001. He married Edna M. Hamilton May 27, 2006 and she survives. He was a member of the National Assoc. of Letter Carriers, Life Member of the 388th Bombardment Group (H) Association, AARP, American Legion Post #11 in Lafayette, and a past member of NARFE. Along with his wife, surviving are his daughter-in-law, Diane Burke, 2 step-sons, Larry Hamilton and his wife Lynn of Ocala, and Gray Hamilton of Ludlow, VT, several nieces and nephews, 5 granddaughters, 2 grandsons, 11 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandson. He was preceded in death by a son Frank. V. Burke.
