Obituary of Robert E. Lee Smith
Robert E. Lee Smith, 78, left this world Sunday, July 12, 2009, at Tuscany Hospice House
in Summerfield, FL. His wife Clara was by his side. A dedicated member of St. Paul Parish, Bob
Smith was a kind and generous man; a loving husband, father and grandfather; and a true friend to
all who were fortunate to know him. He will be deeply missed by his entire family and his
wonderful friends. Bob enjoyed an interesting and eventful life, living it to the fullest and
always maintaining his fine sense of humor. Born in Piggott, Arkansas, in 1930, he moved with his
family to Flint, Michigan, when he was a young boy. After high school at Flint Central High, he
enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he proudly served for 24 successful years, which
included the Korean Conflict. His tour included Alaska, Morocco, Japan and others. He retired
from the US Air Force in Albuquerque, New Mexico and worked for the US Postal Service. Bob loved
golfing, sight seeing, an avid bird watcher, and enjoyed visiting natural attraction and wildlife
areas. He is survived by his loving wife Clara Blazak Smith, two devoted daughters, Marsha (Mark)
Engelbrecht,of Lafayette, LA, and Rachel (Jay Charles) Kinney, of Potomac, MD., a granddaughter,
Heather Kinney.
