My children, Rick and Shayne Dickinson attended Roger Wolcott when Terry was principal there. He handled every situation concerning the children with understanding and care. The Windsor school system has suffered a great loss with the passing of Terri Smith.

I was very involved at John Fitch school when my children were little back inn the late 70's. Terry was always a pleasure to work with and during the years my son was struggling to learn he was a friend to both me and my son. He was a terrific educator, child advocate and a lovely gentle man. I am so sorry for you loss.

Dear Joann, Amy, Chuck and family,
We are so sorry to read about Terry's death. I worked as a counselor in the Windsor Public Schools for 37 years and it was such a pleasure to see Terry every time we visited his school. We also went thru physcial therapy for rotator cuff together and enjoyed talking during that time. I always feel bad when a fried is almost to retirement and is not able to enjoy something we all look forward to. He was in great company with the other principals like Warren, Scott, and Bill Sanders.
Please know that we are thinking and praying for all of you.
Richard and Connie Crockett

I just finished up my last year at Oliver Ellsworth. Since Mr.Smith wasn't there a lot of the time,it was strange walking inside and not seeing him greet the kids like he did almost everyday, every year. Whenever I saw him he always had a smile on. It was great having him as a principal. I will miss seeing him and talking to him like I did almost everyday. I know how much his job meant to him, and how much the kids helped him along the way. I will miss him a lot, but I know he's still watching everyone. Bless you Mr.Smith.

It was a privilege for both of us to know Terry. Years after our children graduated from Oliver Ellsworth, we enjoyed running into him and catching up.
He was an extraordinary man for whom the welfare of his students was #1.
Most of all, we'll miss his smile and sense of humor....

Our two sons were lucky to attend Oliver Ellsworth while Mr. Smith was principal. The school is a wonderful place because of all his hard work and dedication to our kids. Our sympathies to your family. Please know that Terry was highly respected and much loved by everyone who came into contact with him. His shoes will be impossible to fill. Thank goodness the Red Sox won the World Series for him last year! God Bless. The Fitzpatrick Family

Joann, Amy, Chuck and Krissy,
You continue to be in my thoughts and prayers! What a wonderful, warm, nutruting, caring school Oliver Ellsworth is and that is a reflection of not only the dedication to children and staff, but the manner in which Terry lived his life. He lived by the Ellsworth School Code. It was an honor and pleasure working for him! He will be greatly missed by all, though his spirit will live on in O,E.
