Obituary of Harold Rose
Harold Elmer "Hal" Rose, age 83, of Ocala, FL passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2009. He
was born on June 13, 1926 in Philadelphia, PA. Hal joined the US Navy at the age of 17 and served
during WWII. Upon returning to the states after his military service he found employment in the
Industrial Chemical industry working for Allied Chemical, Monsanto and Cabot Titanium where he
was in supervision. He also returned to school at Kent State and earned his Associates Degree.
Eventually he became the owner/operator of El Patio Motel in Canfield, OH along with his late
wife, Mae Rose. Upon their retirement in 1993 they moved to Ocala. His hobbies included golfing,
jogging, tennis, playing the Accordion, crossword puzzles and bowling. Hal was an active member
of Ascension Lutheran Church holding positions of Council President and Head Usher. He is
survived by his daughter Susan Sutherland and her husband Kent and two grandchildren Alex and
Jacob of Menomonee Falls, WI; brother William Rose and nephew Dennis Rose both of Ocala; numerous
nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial service will be held at Ascension Lutheran Church, 5730
SE 28th Street, Ocala, FL on Friday, August 7, 2009 at 5:30pm. A fellowship supper for family and
friends will follow the service at the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to
the Ascension Lutheran Church Memorial Fund in Hal's memory.
