Obituary of Charles Buhl
BUHL, CHARLES E. Ocala - Charles E. Buhl, 94, died peacefully early Saturday, July 25,
2009. A lifelong resident of Ocala, Charles was born in a wooden home about seven miles southwest
of Ocala on May 18, 1915. He was a graduate of Ocala High School where he played on the
undefeated 1933 Wildcat football team. During WWII, the Sergeant Buhl served as a B-26 Marauder
crew chief in England, Belgium and France. After the war he worked for Rush Tractor Co. The son
of a farmer, Charles never missed the opportunity to nurture a plant or a tree. Many will
remember the front lawn of his home on 12th Terrace that was filled with the beautiful red
Amaryllis each spring. He is survived by his nieces, Linda Buhl Turner and Jan Philpot and
nephews, Fred Buhl and Steve Philpot. He was preceded in death by his wife Lucille and his
brothers, Ben, Douglas and Leland. Services will be held at Oakcrest Baptist Church on Wednesday,
July 29, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. Visitation at the church at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, contributions
