Obituary of Richard Paul Heffren

Richard P. Heffren, 85, formerly of Havana, Illinois, passed away at his home on Wednesday, July 29, 2009. He was born in Fulton County, IL on November 23, 1923 to the late Michael Jr. and Ruth Wrestler Heffren. Richard was of the Catholic faith. He graduated from Havana High School then served in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed on the aircraft carrier The USS Wasp in the Pacific Theater for 39 months. After returning to Havana he attended an electronics training school. He then worked for Illinois Power for 25 years before retiring. Moving to Florida in 1973, he and his wife Darlene purchased Lake Weir Trailer Park. Richard also became a rural mail carrier from which he retired in 1989. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Darlene Schnarr Heffren; daughters, Michele Heffren Williams and Rebecca Goforth Chauncy of Florida; son, Greg Goforth of Columbia, IL; 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
