Obituary of Harold Prevett
Harold L. Prevett Ocala, Florida, Harold L. Prevett, 94, died peacefully on July 31st at
Tuscany House after a period of failing health. He was born on Oct. 21st, 1914 in Revere, MA, the
son of the late Dr. Joseph Prevett and Mary (Petitti) of Italy and Boston, MA. He was a WWII Navy
Veteran who served his country from Feb. 1942 to Sept. 1945 and received an honorable discharge
as Chief Radio Technician. He worked at the Air Force Cambridge Research Lab in Bedford, MA as an
aerospace engineer from 1955 to 1972 before retiring to Florida. He worked on numerous government
projects utilizing high altitude balloon technology, including design work with NASA in the early
phases of the space program. He was loved by many for his ever present sense of humor, gentle
nature and unpretentiousness. He took up many hobbies over his lifetime, including HAM Radio
operation, model railroad trains, dry brush watercolor painting, musical instrument building and
electronics of all kinds. He published his first novel at age 89. He is survived by his wife of
68 years, Olivia V. (Rezendes), a son and daughter-in-law, Norman R. and Sharon (Spence) of
Nashua, NH, a son, Harold L., Jr. of Ocala, FL. and a daughter, Jeanne Sable of Fitzwilliam, NH.
His 7 grandchildren who also survive him are: Christopher Prevett, Scott Prevett and Jenna Lee
(Prevett) of Nashua, NH, Damon Poor of Jaffrey, NH, Timothy Prevett, Thomas Prevett, and Tyler
Prevett, 10 great grandchildren and 2 nieces. Cremation will be handled by Hiers-Baxley Funeral
Services in Ocala, FL. Burial will be scheduled at the convenience of the family.
