I am only just now learning of David's passing and wish to extend my sympathies to his family at this time. I only knew David as a child and this is my treasured memory of him: Jenny and I encouraging David to drink water to improve his long distance peeing performance in the Yerkee bathroom - an activity that had all three of us in delighted laughter as he went for the gold.
I'm terribly sorry for your loss and imagine that it is particularly difficult at this time of year.

While we did not know David, we have embraced your daughter Anne and adore her. As my father will always be with us, so too will David be with you forever. May loving memories bring you and your family comfort and peace. With Love From Anne's Friends in Portland, Oregon

David and I worked together at ACT. I enjoyed him so much. He had a great sense of humor and he was so smart! He had a Tin Tin t-shirt on and I had never heard of Tin Tin. I went to the library and checked out all the Tin Tin books and found them delightful. That was probably 10 years ago, and I'm still a big Tin Tin fan. I'll always remember David. He was very special. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I never knew David but watched him grow to a fine young man. I would speak to him as he walked by my residence presumably on his way to the Hickory Hill Park. He was very friendly and always spoke respectfully. Now I will remember him as the birds fly by and sing his songs.

Our hearts are breaking along with yours. We love David and ache with you. Some of our fondest family memories include David - particularly helping with the kids' birthday parties for a dozen rambunctious boys. We will always cherish David. Our sincere condolances -

I have been thinking about this since my sister Margaret told me. I still remember in kindergarten when David came in & filled in all the number grids correctly & was immediately promoted to my sister's class. He was always such an individual, even at that age. I am really sorry to hear that David is gone and also that he had so many struggles as an adult. I am thinking of everyone in your family.

Jenny and family,
It has been 10 years since I saw David, but I remember him vividly - he was a true original, apparent even to those who didn't get to know him well. I can't imagine how much you must miss him. My sympathies and prayers -

Barbara,
You probably don't remember me, but took a business communications class from you early on in my tenure at the UI. It is a class that has helped me much more that you will ever know.
Even though I have been away from Iowa City for over 6 years, I still keep in touch with what is happening from time to time via the Press Citizen on line. I am very sorry to hear about your son David's passing. My sincere condolences go out to you and you family. My son David was a 1992 City High grad (who now happens to be a funeral director). He was probably acquainted with your David, therefore,I will pass on the news of your loss to him. My prayers are with you.

No parent should ever have to suffer the loss of a child; it's the wrong order of things. Such a loss is aggravated when it is of an only son or daughter; but, you are fortunate that there are other children to enjoy.
We join you in your grief and look forward to sharing happy times with you in the future!
Fondly, Margaret & Bob Hibbs

I am so very sorry for your loss. Working with you, Barb, and hearing the stories of your family have made me strive to be the parents you and Larry have become. Your love for your children and grandchildren is so apparent and I know David thrived in all your love and support. Barb, you are such a wonderful friend and your pain is my pain. Hello. Just wanted to say that I worked with David a bit (not closely) at Mercy and always found him to be very thoughtful and with a good sense of humor. I could also tell the times he was troubled and prayed for him to get through those. He was a good person and too young to lose.. He touched other people's lives in a positive way. Condolences to your family. Amy Reid
