Obituary of James J. Smith

SMITH, JAMES J. Ocala - James J. Smith, 83, passed away on Monday, Aug. 11, 2009 at his residence. He was born in Baltimore, MD and moved to Ocala from Lanham, MD in 1974. He retired after 26 years of service with NASA as a engineer. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He enjoyed fishing, boating, wind surfing, bowling, tennis and gardening. He is survived by his daughter, Teri Parker of Bishopville, MD, his son, J. Christopher Smith of Henrietta, CA, his step-daughter, Deloris L. Boltinghouse of Ocala, his step-son, William E. Padgett of Readsboro, VT, his sister-in-laws, Lou Bogue and Teenie Lasher, his brother-in-law, Ernest Bowen, his five grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leila and his mother Emily. Graveside services will be held on Friday, Aug. 21, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at Florida National Cemetery with military honors.
