Obituary of Raymond Kaefer
KAEFER, Raymond A., Sr. Mr. Raymond A. Kaefer, Sr., 78, of Silver Springs, died
Wednesday, September 16, 2009, at Munroe Regional Medical Center. A native of Turtle Creek, PA,
he moved to this area in 2000, coming here from Holly Hill. He proudly served his country in both
Korea and Viet Nam, and retired after serving 24 years with the US Army having achieved the rank
of Command Sergeants Major. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jean P. Kaefer, daughters
Roberta Jean Wodenscheck, Elaine Mary Van Meter, son Gregory Charles Kaefer, sister Betty Kaplan,
brothers Robert (Bob) Kaefer, Charles Kaefer, Roger Kaefer, 16 grandchildren, and 11 great
grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Raymond Allen Kaefer, Jr., and daughters
Pamela Joan Kaefer and Diane Marie Northcott. A memorial service for Mr. Kaefer will be held at 1
PM Saturday, September 19, 2009 at the Basilica of St. Paul in Daytona Beach, FL. Hiers-Baxley
Funeral Services, 910 SE Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala, is handling arrangements. In lieu of
flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Veteran of Foreign Wars Retirement Home, 12801
NE 139th Place, Ft. McCoy, FL 32134.
