Obituary of Glenna Gertyne Anderman

Glenna Gertyne (Judge) Anderman, 79, of Summerfield, FL, passed away on Monday, October 5th, at Tuscany House Hospice in Summerfield, FL. She had been a resident of Florida since 1996. Born in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, she was the daughter of the late James M. and Helen E. (Shangraw) Judge. Her family came to the US during the Great Depression and settled in North Wales, PA, by way of Syracuse, Central Connecticut, and the Germantown section of Philadelphia. She was a 1948 graduate of North Wales High School and attended Averett College in Danville, Virginia. While still in high school in 1947, she began her career with The Reporter (Lansdale, PA) writing the North Wales Notes at the then-amazing salary (for a teenager) of five dollars a week. She later worked in the editorial department of The Reporter serving as police reporter, church editor, and drama critic. Mrs. Anderman retired from the advertising department of The Reporter in 1992. She had also been employed as a telemarketer for Young's, Inc. in Line Lexington, PA, and was marketing coordinator for Bean, Mason and Eyer, of Doylestown, PA. After moving to Florida, she became a columnist for the The Villages Daily Sun. Her weekly column, Around the Spruce Creek Windmill, covered people, events, and activities in Spruce Creek South, The Villages, and other local communities. Most recently, she was a correspondent for the Ocala (FL) Free Press and contributed articles relating to Spruce Creek South residents. Following her husband's military service in Wyoming and California, she moved to Hatfield, PA, and later the Chalfont, PA area, where she resided for nearly 34 years prior to moving to Florida and where she organized a social group relating to antiques. She was an avid reader and, with her husband, operated a Calico Cottage Creations dealership selling antique reproductions and pine and pewter home accessories. In addition to John L. Anderman, her husband of 59 years, she is survived by a son, Stephan M. Anderman and his partner Barbara J. Pembleton of Greenwood, Indiana, a daughter Linda L., wife of Steven Marks of Hammonton, NJ, a sister, Beverly, wife of Richard L. Eichner of Fairlawn, OH, and three grandchildren. She was a former member of North Wales, Lansdale, and Chalfont United Methodist Churches and was a member of Community United Methodist Church of Fruitland Park (FL) at the time of her passing.
