Obituary of Mildred Piers
PIERS, Mildred Royce Moffett Mildred Moffett Piers passed away peacefully October 31,
2009 at the age of 91. Mildred was born August 22, 1918 in Plainfield, NJ to James and Myrtle
Royce. She married Benjamin Moffett in 1951 and together they spent their years working in and
around the city of Cranford, NJ and spent their summers at the Jersey Shore which they both
loved. Mildred was a 1938 graduate of Lasell College. This gave her the opportunity to work and
help raise and support her family. Her family was her greatest joy in life. When it came time to
retire, Mildred and Ben moved to Gulfport, FL to enjoy their golden years together near the
shores of the Gulf of Mexico. Sadly, Ben passed on in 1977. Being the strong woman that she was
Mildred resolved to spend her golden years helping others. She was very active in her Church and
gave of her time freely. In 1990 Mildred married Ralph Piers at the age of 72. She moved to Cape
Cod, MA with Ralph and once again lived by the sea. Mildred stayed in Cape Cod until age,
weather, and the longing to be near her family called her back to Florida. She lived in Melbourne
Beach, FL near her grandson Jeff and the sea that she so loved until she could no longer live on
her own. Mildred moved to Ocala, FL in 2004 and resided at The Bridge Assisted Living Facility.
This move brought her near her grandson Rob and great-granddaughter Alexis whom she loved dearly.
She will be greatly missed by her son Robert R. Moffett, Sr., and his wife Mary of Pierson, FL,
grandsons Robert R. Moffett, Jr. and his wife Wendy of Ocala, FL, Jeffrey W. Moffett and his wife
