Obituary of Earl Lister

Street Ladoga, Indiana 47954 Earl Lister of Ocala, Florida, formerly of Ladoga, Indiana passed
away on Thursday, November 12, 2009. He was born on July 30, 1919 in Parke County, Indiana. At
the time of his death he was living with his daughter-in-law, Sheila and his grandson, Scott.
Earl was married to Letha Marie Purdue of Ladoga, Indiana and had one son Steven Earl. They
preceded him in death. Earl was born to William Edward Lister and Nora Estel Farley Lister.
Brothers and sisters who preceded him in death are Willie Lister, Vesta Elloise Lister Myers,
Hazel Irene Lister Tibbett, and Norman Elmo Lister. He is survived by one sister, Mary Evelyn
Lister Kolaiser of Hillsboro, Indiana and a brother Claude Richard Lister of Danville, Indiana
and a number of nieces and nephews. His daughter-in-law, Sheila E. Hueston Lister survives with
her son, Joel Scott Lister and his children Joel Steven and Layla Faith Lister all of Ocala,
Florida. Sheila's mother Ruth C. Hueston also resides in Ocala. Steve and
Sheila's younger son, Zachry Steven Lister, his wife Angela Dawn Lease Lister and their
son Garrett Will Lister reside in E. Bernstadt, Kentucky. Another nephew, Charles L. Proctor and
his family also reside in Florida. Earl was awarded the Bronze Star for his service in the
Pacific Arena during WWII while serving in the Infantry of the Army. Those years served and the
men he served with were very special to Earl and he often shared wartime memories. He was a
meatcutter into his seventies first at The Ladoga Meat Locker and then Burnett's
Grocery. For years and years many children, youth, friends and neighbors visited with Earl and
Marie on their front porch on South Street or enjoyed the creek in their backyard. He and Marie
loved those children and cherished those times. Most everyone will recall some story or joke he
told. Earl loved to read westerns and to recite poetry. He served and loved his country, his
community and especially his family. He was a very, very special man.
