Obituary of Col.Charles E. Morris
MORRIS, CHARLES EDWARD Ocala - Charles E. ("Chuck") Morris was born 2 December 1927 in
Fond du Lac. WI, the only son of Howard Wesley and Mabel Hall Morris. He graduated from Fond du
Lac High School in June 1945 and enlisted in the US Army July 1945. He graduated from Officer
Candidate School in April 1949 as a Field Artillery officer. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel
in August 1975 and moved to Ocala where he has resided ever since. During his 30-years Army
career he was involved in World War II, the Korean War, Vietnam and the occupation of both
Germany and Japan. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie June (Stannah) Morris, of more than 59
years and three children, Karen M. Bennett, BSN, MBA of St. Petersburg, FL, Lt. Col. Robert W.
Morris, USAR, Retired (USMA '77) of Alexandria, VA and Charles E. ("Chip") Morris of Ocala. He
has four grandchildren, Seth R. Morris, Miranda M. Morris, Edwin C. Bennett and Charles G.
Bennett (USMA 2012). He has been active in the community since 'retirement'. He was an Adjunct
Professor at CFCC from 1977 to 1991, he was a charter member of the Kingdom of the Sun Retired
Officers Association chapter, a charter member and President of the Ocala Sons of the American
Revolution Chapter, founding member and Senior Warden of The Anglican Catholic Church (ACC) of
the Resurrection from 1991 to 2008, Diocesan Secretary of the Diocese of the South of the ACC
from 1986 to 2009 and Provincial Secretary of The Original Province of the ACC from 1992 to 1997.
A Requiem Mass will be held at the Oden Chapel, 401 SE 19th Avenue, Saturday, December 5, 2009 at
2:00 PM. He will be interred at the Florida National Cemetery on Bushnell with full military
honors, Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at 2:00 PM.
