Obituary of John W. Dickerson

John W. Dickerson, age 88, of The Villages, passed away November 30, 2009. He was born in Hart County, GA. A veteran of the US Navy, retired with rank of E-9, Chief Quartermaster. He was involved in the first invasion in Africa and seven other invasions. He also served in Korean War and received the Presidential Citation. After his military career he was an owner/operator of an insurance, real estate, and mortgage company in Tallahassee, FL. John retired to The Villages in 1998 from Tallahassee. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Rotary Club and Elk’s Lodge in Tallahassee, and the Masonic Lodge in San Diego, CA. He was an avid golfer, Florida State University football fan, and enjoyed working in the yard and gardening. Survivors include his wife “Midge” of The Villages, twin sister, Ella Zell, of Fort Worth, TX, a niece and nephews.
