Obituary of Helen Chauncey

Chauncey, Helen H. Ocala - Helen Houriet Chauncey, 86, went home to be with the Lord on January 16, 2010. She was the second of three children born to Swiss immigrants Gerald Valentin and Jane Delesmillieres Houriet at the family home in Suwannee County Florida January 18, 1923. After graduating from Suwannee High School in 1941 she attended and graduated from nursing school at Orange Memorial Hospital (now Orlando Regional Medical Center) in Orlando, FL. She retired from Munroe Regional Medical Center after 34 years of dedicated service. She was baptized in the Suwannee River and grew up in the Shady Grove Baptist Church, she was a charter member of the Downtown Baptist Church (Woodside Baptist Church) Ocala, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband Shellie, sister Alice, and brother Charles. She is survived by her son Elliott (Arlene) Chauncey of Ocala; grandson Ethan; and nephews Gerald and Douglas Houriet of Jacksonville, FL. A funeral ceremony will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services - Ocala Chapel, 910 SE Silver Springs Blvd with Rev. Samuel W. Clements officiating. A visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. A committal ceremony will follow the funeral at Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens.
