Obituary of Lilly McCurry

Ocala- Lillie Mae McCurry, 78 passed away in peace on January 16, 2010 at Estelle's House Hospice. She was born in Claiborne Co., Tennessee on December 30, 1931. Her career as a educator brought her to Marion County in 1964 where she taught 31 years for the Marion County School System. She had taught school previously in Tennessee, North Carolina and Maryland. Lillie enjoyed travel, reading and was an avid lover of various pets and animals. She was a graduate of Claiborne County High School and later earned her degrees from East Tennessee State University. Lillie was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Ethel Greene and her brother, Garrett and sister-in-law, Flora Greene. She is survived by 3 sons, Jack McCurry (Penny), Jerry McCurry (Angela), Michael McCurry (Anna Myers); sister, Imogene and husband, Ralph Shultz; brothers, Louis (Bebee), Carl (Trina), Bob (Susan) Greene and sister, Carolyn (Chris) Boggs and their son, Chris Hudson; along with numerous nieces and nephews. She enjoyed all of God's creations and all the many school children she taught over the years.
