Antiphanes wrote, Let us not lament the passing of our friends. They are not dead, but simply gone before us along the road which all must travel.
Just as he was giving and loving throughout his life, George selflessly continues to pave the road for others in his passing. It was indeed an honor to know George, to work with him, to laugh with him and just to have had the privilege to share in a part of his life. I hope his family can find some comfort in the knowledge that he truly made a difference.

To the Anastasia Family,
Please accept our sincere sympathy and condolences. Mr. A, as most everyone called him, was indeed an honorable, straight shooter. Certain individuals make a lasting positive memory. We are glad we had the opportunity to know him. We will never forget him. Our prayers are with you at this time of sorrow.

Mr. Anastasia was my Math teacher in high school. He taught us so much more than Math. He respected each student and expected our respect. He taught us about life, relationships and that it was OK to act responsibly.
He got us excited about Math and learning. As I look back, he deffinately stands out as one of the best teachers I've ever had.
My prayers are with his family.

To my dear friend,
Thank you for all you have given to my life. I will always remember your gracious heart, your quick wit and your sideways smirk. You talked me up when I was down, you whipped me into shape when I was slacking, and you held my hand when I was sad. You had a profound effect on me and I hope you knew how important you were to so many people. You will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with your family and friends.

I was so sorry to hear of Mr. A's passing. He was my Assistant Vice Principal from 1985 to 1989. He was more of a friend to the students than a principal at Windsor Locks High and will truly be missed.

My love and sympathy goes out to all of you. I will always remember how you touched my life. When I heard of your loss, everything came back to me. From the love of your Mom, when we all showed up unannounced to our girlscout outings, to fixing up Lori and Lee. (Which I am still so very proud of.) My prayers and thoughts are with you all. Peace be with you.

George was my Assistant Principal when I was first teaching at the High School in 1985. He came to observe me teaching a math lesson on subtraction to a group of special needs students.I hated to be observed; it made me very nervous. This time, I was teaching 3- digit subtraction and I just couldn't get the problem to come out correctly. Finally, in frustration, I turned to the class, having tried everything I knew how to do to solve the problem and said I'm sure when you work on it for homework, you'll have NO trouble. And George's voice came from the back of the room...Especially if you put the big number on the top and the little one on the bottom! Afterward, he told me it was all he could do to sit through the lesson without laughing or jumping out of his seat.
I tell that story often. George had a big heart, and left big memories.
I hope in time your memories bring you peace.

To the Anastasia Family,
I had the pleasure of having Mr.A as my Asst Vice Prin. @ Windsor Locks High School from 1977 to 1980. There was not a more likeable and personable person around like him. He was always there for his students when they had problems or concerns. His door was always opened. I will never forget him. My prayers are with you at this time of sorrow.
