Obituary of Anthony Joseph Martin

Anthony J. Martin, 87, passed away January 31, 2010 at West Marion Community Hospital in Ocala. Anthony was born in Rumford, ME to Fidel and Phoebe Martin. He was an Army Air Corp veteran of WWII. After WWII, he earned a degree in business and was employed by Emery-Waterhouse for 40 years. He was treasurer of St. Patrick's Credit Union in Portland, ME and a Third Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus in ME. Mr. Martin moved from Windham, ME in 1992 to Ocala. He was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Mr. Martin enjoyed coin collecting, tennis, bowling, shuffleboard, and bocce ball. Anthony was an avid card player with family and friends-especially cribbage. He loved all sports, but was an avid Red Sox fan. He participated in the Marion Landing Senior Games. Anthony enjoyed traveling and the theatre. He is survived by his wife Shirley A. Martin; daughters, Kathy and husband Joseph Raynes of Cumberland, ME, Karen and husband Bill Fothergill of Phoenix, AZ, and Melissa and husband Daniel Deprez of Federal Way, WA; five grandchildren, Tyler Briggs, Joanna Raynes, Michael Fothergill, Inara Deprez and Finn Deprez; brother, William Martin of Rumford, ME; and sister, Pearl Murphy of Rumford, ME. Funeral mass will be held at 8:30 AM, February 3, 2010 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Father Patrick J. O'Doherty officiating.
