Obituary of Clarence Lewis Dinkins

Clarence Dinkins, Jr., was born to Clarence Dinkins, Sr. and Lilla Hutchins in 1926 and reared in Dunnellon, FL. He served in the US Coast Guard 1944-1946 on the USS Gen. H.F. Hodges. He moved to Ocala in 1946. C.L. attended the University of Florida and was the Founder of Kwik King Food Stores and Dinkins Realty. He was a Christian. He was a Real Estate Investor and invested in various business ventures. He loved being with his family, loved his work, loved his community, and helping people in need. He served 8 years on the Ocala City Council (1968-1975) and 8 years as Trustee for Munroe Regional Medical Center (1989-1997). He was a Founding Board Member of the Marion County YMCA (1989-2010), a Member of Advisory Board for the Salvation Army (1989-2010), Former President of Marion County Boys and Girls Club, Past Exalted Ruler of Ocala Elks Lodge #286, Former Member of Marion County Indigent Care Task Force and Former Member of the Marion County Coalition for the Homeless. C.L. was also recipient of the Repulican Business Man of the Year Award, the George Mangan Community Service Award.
