Obituary of Maxine Elizabeth Stuk
Maxine Elizabeth Stuk, age 97, of Blanchard Loop, Gloversville, passed away peacefully on 2/9/10 while wintering with her daughter in Florida. She was born in Johnstown and lived all of her life in one of the twin cities. She was of the Protestant faith and maintained a strong belief in God (her explanation for her longevity). She will be remembered by many for her sense of humor as well as her expertise in quilting, weaving, spinning, and knitting. Mrs. Stuk is survived by her daughter, Janet Kumpan (Robert) of The Villages, Florida; her son, Dennis Vosburgh (Donna) of Caroga Lake, NY; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; a sister, Vivian Beirlein, Northville NY; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, John, and a sister, Doris Case. Her remains will be interred next summer with a private family service. Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, The Villages, FL.
